St. George and the Dragon

And once the moon risesstgeorge
I will be fighting the riptide;

St. George goes out to fight the dragon
until he realizes the dragon is inside.

What does he do then?
He places his hand on his chin
hearkening back to agreements
ridding himself of them
feeling
un-liked
and where to start?
the miserable chasm
of
his
indomitable
heart

Dragon, he says,
My fight is with
a projection; I have gone inside
to conquer it;

but the hell-born image
never left
still George sees the dragon
in every glass that tilts

the moon rises
and the dragon remains un-kilt
