Dante’s Peek

I’ve driven far.
That lightning, I saw it this morning,
wasn’t for us–
some other love struck
some other lovers.

I watch the carefully molded hills
rolling with the eons
green on red on brown

You left me at the temple!
For a moment I forgot
what I was experiencing.
I am trying
to explore a feeling,
and you’re not, really,
not with me,
and I might have
believed that,

But
for
such
moments
as we have had until now-

Ooh

lightning flashed
THAT time

the embrace
at the end of being missed

I have never
felt so grateful,

so proud to know God and love Him
than when you were twisted up
under the truck,
snaking your hips
so that our faces could touch–
I will never forget that morning
at bubbles and bass
when we kissed

My love,
My Gemstone,
who feels like home,
Listen–

–It may look
rough for me
in the going
(My God
does not permit
any idols
and so
I must keep
destroying them)

but to love you
is to know about a love
worth knowing

even if
I’m not
your
special
someone

leads me up
the highest
mountain
